Love your analysis of the bucket step. Yes, don't like losing that much ground. For my perspective in coaching youth football, I don't like the tackles in a up position on the snap. Because I emphasize staying low in drive blocking. I've also seen that bucket step used immediately having the tackle open his hips but in youth football, he cannot recover when the defensive lineman makes an inside move which is more of a direct line to the quarterback. I used to tell my live in very simple. Get nose to nose with the defensive man and keep your butt to the quarterback and constantly move your feet and make those punch moves to the chest. Also told them to mirror their defensive man while chopping your feet. Did not want them to lose that much ground. Would rather have them keep their defensive man closer to them. Just an idea that maybe is old school. Love the video!

It's just this o-lineman has his inside foot back instead of up for even faster hip angle alignment when he's on the right-hand side of the ball.

It would be more beneficial to address the black on black crime that is responsible for the overwhelming majority of black violence and death. Pull up the latest stats on blacks getting murdered and you'll see the vast majority of the perps are black. Too many people are blinded by the mainstream narrative and are missing the forest for the trees. Racial injustice does occur but if you think that is the biggest issue plaguing our community, you don't want to address the real problem. We need to stop being pawns being manipulated by the media and politicians. A lot of us are still on a plantation only the current plantation exists mentally. We have been a reliable voting bloc for Democrats since the 1960s. In 60+ years, how much have the Democrats really helped? Think for yourself.

I was recently at a penn state camp, and every single coach glazed all the lineman that were 6’4+ just because of their size. Showed interest in them and gave them offers, never said a word to me. This gave me more motivation to go and hopefully get d1 offers

My coach has me snapping with the ball to my left foot almost and at an angle with my right foot a little bit more ahead of my left and then straight back because of just my pinky on my dominant and the reason for this is because I had reconstructive surgery on it and my tendon didn't grow with my pinky so when ever I have my hand is flat my pinky bends natural and makes it look like an arc.

So based on his belief...we should never get low because it requires more force to move. Isn't the object to use your body to generate force?

Such great advice about training safely. I see too many strength coaches teaching dangerous lifts that l don't think have crossover benefits to football...all they are doing is exposing young athletes to injury while sucking money from the pockets of parents.

late response but hope i can still help. try to grip the ball less and differently. when i first started everything was way high and then my coach helped me and the key points i got was i had to keep the nose down and have a lose grip on the nose not the laces so the ball would release earlier. usually depending on qb height i release when my arm reaches directly underneath my body when i used to release oncs my arm hit my thigh
